Head of Christ

Attributed to Bartolome Esteban Murillo (1671-1682)

This painting is believed to be the work of Bartolome Esteban Murillo due to faint markings on the back as well as the pale lemon-tone white Murillo was known to use. It is believed that this painting is one of the latter works of Murillo and is in striking contrast to his earlier works in which he depicted beggar boys, peasants etc.
