Man With the Red Hat

Attributed to Pietra da Cortona (1596-1669)

 

Pietra da Cortona was born Pietra Berretina in 1596, acquiring his professional name from the town of his birth, Cortona, Italy.

Although a specialist in fresco, his oil paintings are represented in such European muesums as The Louvre in Paris, the Pitti Palace in Florence, the Brera in Milan, the Hermitage in Moscow and museums in Brussels, Dresden and The Hague. He died in Rome in the year 1669.
