Do I have to come to the library to return a book?
-
-
- How do I check out a book?
- Bring the book you want to check out and your university ID
card to the Circulation Desk on the main floor of the library. Your university ID card is
always necessary for checking out books. The loan period is 21 days. Students can borrow a
maximum of 30 books at any one time.
-
- Can I renew a book?
- Yes, you can renew a
book if no one else has requested it. A book from Franciscan or OhioLINK can be renewed up
to four times.
-
- Do I have to come to the library to renew a book?
- No, you can renew a book
on line at the JPII Library website, or by calling the circulation desk at 283-6366.
-
- Can I place a book on hold?
- You can place
a 'hold' on up to 10 books at any one time, if they are not on the library shelves.
When the book is returned to the library, you will be notified by mail or telephone. The
book will be kept on the hold shelf for 5 days. If the book is on the library shelves, you
will not be able to place a hold and you must come to the library to check it out.

-
- Can I check out journals and magazines?
- You cannot check out
bound or current journals and magazines.
-
- What's a reserve book?
- Professors put 'on reserve' those books that related to a
course they are teaching. They are not in
general circulation. Reserve books may be used in the library only or may taken out
overnight, depending on the arrangement. Reserve books are kept on the shelves
behind the Circulation Desk.
-
- How do I check a reserve book out?
- Ask the staff person at the Circulation Desk for the book you
want. You will need your university ID card. If it is an hourly book, the staff person
will tell you at what time the book is due. If it is
an 'overnight' book, you may borrow it after 4:00 pm and return it no later than 10:00 am
the following morning. Overdue fines for reserve books are $1.00 per hour.

-
- What if I keep my library materials out past the due
date?
- You wouldn't do that. But if you did, you would be charged 50
cents per day per book and $1.00 per hour for
reserve materials. Please remember that overdue fines begin accruing on the due date, even
though you may not receive an overdue notice for a few days.
-
- How can I get a book or an
article which is not owned by the John Paul II Library?
- If a book is not at the John Paul II Library, you can check
the OhioLINK catalog. Articles are available through the library's Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL) free of
charge.
-
- Do I have to come to the library to return a book?
- Materials from the John Paul II library can be returned by
using the "book return bin" located in the lobby of Egan Hall and in the
cafeteria any day of the week. Materials will be picked up at regularly scheduled times
throughout the day. Overdue or requested materials should be brought directly to the
Library.
