- How do I
use my student ID to order books?
- To order books you need to use the barcode
number on the back of the card, not your student ID number. Do not type in the
"a," only the numbers.

- How do I check my e-mail at the library's computer
lab?
- The computers at the library's lab are for research only.
You cannot access e-mail from the computers at the library lab, only the computer at the
Circulation Desk. You can, however, check your e-mail at the other computer labs on campus.

- How do I print in the library?
- Library computers will print to network printer at the
Information Desk. We ask that you limit your printing to university-related
assignments, not personal printing.

- How do I check out library materials?
- Bring the book or other materials you want to check out and
your university ID card to the Circulation Desk on the main floor of the library. Your
university ID card is always necessary for checking out books. The loan period is 21 days.
Students can borrow a maximum of 30 books at any one time.

- How
do I check out reserve materials?
- Ask the staff person at the Circulation Desk for the book
you want. You will need your university ID card. If it is an hourly book, the staff person
will tell you what time the book is due. If it is an 'overnight' book, you may
borrow it after 4:00 pm and return it no later than 10:00 am the following morning.
Overdue fines for reserve books are $1.00 per hour.

- How do I find
books that aren't at the JPII library?
- If a book is not at the John Paul II Library, you can check
the OhioLINK
catalog. Articles are available through the library's Interlibrary
Loan Service (ILL) free of charge

- How do I renew a book?
- You can renew a book by going to My Account. Items can be
renewed up to four times if no one else has requested it. Remember to
check the status of all the books when you renew to be sure that they
have all been renewed.

- How do I find books that are
missing from the shelves?
- If you are unable to locate a book on the shelves, check the
catalog to be sure that the book you're looking for is in the general circulation. Often
books are shelved in one of the special collections. If you are still unable to find the
book, check with the Circulation Desk.

- How
do I connect to databases when I'm off campus?
- The OhioLINK databases offer you off campus access. Off-campus access is
limited to currently enrolled students and is activated by using your ID barcode. Please
note that some electronic journals and reference materials can only be accessed on-campus.

- How do I
reserve the Group Study room?
- Since the Group Study room is available for only two hours
at a time, we do not take reservations. It is available on a first-come basis. If it
is not occupied, come to the Circulation Desk, present your student ID and have a staff
member open it for you.

- How do I cite
online sources?
- One important thing to remember is that you must record the
date that you visited the web site you're citing. Then, consult the specific style sheet
that your professor is using. These include the MLA and Turabian
(on reserve at the Circulation Desk) and APA (BF 76.7A46), on
the shelves in Reference.

- What is
plagiarism?
- Plagiarism is using another person's work or ideas but

- How do I
find articles on a topic?
- Click on "Find Articles by Subject" on the home
page, then click on the subject area you need. Not sure where to start? Try
"General" information from EBSCO and OhioLINK.

scholarly articles?
- One quick solution is to go to the Academic
Search Premier website and click on "Publications". This links
you to journals and other scholarly publications and insures you will get articles of an
academic caliber.

- How do I
find periodicals in print at JPII?
- Current copies are on the shelves. The most recent past
issues are located in the bins underneath the current titles. Other back issues are bound
and filed according to their call numbers, which are listed in the FranCAT.

a full text article?
- While there are many options, two good choices are Academic
Search Premier and the Electronic Journal Center. The Electronic
Journal Center for each specific subject is listed on our Finding
Journal/ Magazine Articles page.

- How do I find
a book review?
- Book reviews can be found at OhioLINK's Book Review Digest
or consult subject-specific database, for example, the ATLA for theology.

- How do I search for images?
- Go to OhioLINK Databases and
click on "Image Collections and Digital Media".

- Do I have to come to the library to return a book?
- Materials from the John Paul II library can be returned by
using the "book return bin" located in the lobby of Egan Hall any day of
the week. Materials will be picked up at regularly scheduled times throughout the day.
Overdue or requested materials should be brought directly to the Library.
