The Curriculum Following in the liberal arts tradition of the University, the English/Drama Curriculum requires the student to participate in a broad range of theatre and literature classes. Practical experience is provided through the plays produced in Anathan Theatre at the University, classroom exercises, and theatre-related projects. The Drama Minor: Students choosing to minor in theatre must complete Theatre History I and II, Fundamentals of Acting, Stagecraft, Fundamentals of Directing, and Shakespearean Tragedies and Tragicomedies. This introduces students to each major element of the theatre, from theatre history to acting to literature. Austrian Program: The Faculty strongly encourages the English/Drama majors to participate in the Austrian Program of study. English/Drama students are encouraged to go to Austria during the fall semester of their sophomore year. Four years of study culminate in the Production class, in which the student assumes the role of director/designer for a one-act play, which is performed for the campus community. Each class is 3 credits, except where specified.
